CAIC's PARTICIPATION IN SPLASH FM ORATORY CONTEST 2017
On the 24th April 2017 Christ Ambassadors International College received an invitation to participate in the 2017 Splash FM Oratory Contest. This year’s topic was “The Role of Children in Eradicating Corruption”. The college met the qualification requirements for the contest to submit the names of two contestants (age range between 9 and 15) on, or before, the 12th of May, 2017. The two students selected to represent the school were: Wendy Chukwuemeka and Yewande Adesope.
The preliminary stage of the Competition took place on the 19th of May, 2017. Twenty-two schools, including Christ Ambassadors International College, presented forty-four contestants. These contestants competed against one another to qualify their various schools for the next round of the competition. During the first elimination stage Christ Ambassadors International College succeeded in making it to the next stage comprising twenty contestants, while twenty-four of the contestants were eliminated.
Christ Ambassadors International College, represented by Wendy Chukwuemeka scaled through to the last ten contestants after others were eliminated. Yewande Adesope was unable to make it through the next elimination stage, falling a little short of the required points in criteria of contest. Wendy Chukwuemeka, however, sealed through to the next stage as one of the last ten contestants.
The final stage of the competition took place on Friday the 26th of May, 2017. Wendy as one of the contestants was assessed like the others. She eloquently sailed through the first round to become one of last five contestants standing. She finally emerged their overall in the contest, with a score of 67.4 points, after the last round. It was a close contest and our very own Wendy Chukwuemeka did us proud. She got the 2nd runner up position and we celebrated her as a school.
